Bamboozle

July 31, 2008

Has someone in a store tried to sell you a bamboo t-shirt? Its so sad, I mean its not their fault they dont sit at home enough googling stuff and reading treehugger (while I should be working) to know that more than likely the bamboo shirt they sold that susposedly is sustainable eco-heady-everything is actually evil. Id would just sound like a modern jackass if I tried to summarize the things i have read about the dark side of bamboo fiber production, so I’ll post the link to the most informative article I have read about this material. Basically, the bamboo is a superstar plant in a long list of ways. It appears it could kick cotton’s ass. Hemp could probably kick all their asses, but thats a different story. The processes that come after the harvest of the bamboo are where it can get really ugly. DOESNT HAVE TO, but you know how those dollars work. Their are new certification labels to look for when purchasing bamboo, so that you know if it is evil bamboo or clean bamboo you are buying and of course supporting.

BAMBOO:the facts behind the fiber

Its you.

Ive never lived in the same town or state as my friend Anh, but she is my closest friend. Our conversations are a big part of my day. She is a beautiful silly creature. I love the way she uses words and lines. I have deleted like four sentences so far trying to write how her drawings make me feel. I love watching strangers pick up a little drawing that she did because they usually always get this tender grin in their eyes and then I know they see what I see.

I want to print it on a white tunic top. How many days do you think you want to visit? I just had to put the Gorilla Munch away. I just get like a robot putting it in my mouth. Its really loud when Im chewing it.

The tide goes out so far in the mornings. They say it drops more than any other coast line in the country. I dont know if its true though.

So, this warm hat actually hardens with impact to protect her head. Its some new material called d30 technology. I mean wearing a helmet is really cool and attractive and everything, but this is a really great alternative if you don’t quite need a big bulky helmet, but still don’t want a concussion.

You can get them now on amazon for $99.00

Here is a link to a You Tube video showing how these hats protect a watermelon. Notice the demonstrator doesnt test on his own head.

Flea Market Trash

July 8, 2008

I think this has been out for a while, but I just saw it today. I needed to buy a little bathroom trash can today with a lid since the dogs like to pull tissue out and tear it to shreds. After I saw this movie I decided to go to flea market to get a used one. It was $6.oo. I love going to to estate sales and vintage shops to buy things Im looking for, but for some household items that are usually pretty inexpensive anyway like a trash can, I dont immediately think, “buy used”.

Here is my $6.00 flea market trash can and other new options I would of had today from Target or Ikea.

Ive told at least a dozen people about this book. I love it! Im not giving a book report on it though. Ive gotten so much out of it and I could find something on everypage I would want to share.

Here’s a quote from the Philosophies section:

“A master in the art of living draws no sharp distinction between his work and his play; his labor and his leisure; his mind and his body; his education and his recreation. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence through whatever he is doing, and leaves others to determine whether he is working or playing. To himself, he always appears to be doing both”
